Have you cleaned your sofa since you bought it?
Did you know the average person spends at least 20-30 hours per week on the couch?
20-30 hours? That’s like a part time job!
Over time human oils and debris (coins, food, hair) become embedded in the upholstery.
Here are just a few things you are sure to find in your furniture.
- Dead skin cells
- Dog oils
- Bacteria
- Pet hair/human hair
- Body sweat
- Food Particles- which leads to more bacteria
- Coffee / Milk/ Soda (pop)
- Pet drool/ urine/ feces (think about that the next time you rest your head on the sofa)
Just like every other fabric your furniture should be cleaned periodically to help maintain the fabric. Unfortunately most people don’t clean there furniture quite as often as they should leaving a huge amount of bacteria and just plane grossness.
On average you spend 20 hours a week on your furniture and 42 hours a week sleeping.
Think about this you would never wait 2-5 years to change your bed sheets would you?
We typically change our bed sheets once a week. But the average person waits 2-3 years before cleaning their furniture. That’s along time when you consider how often we use the fabric.
So how often should you clean your furniture?
I’m not saying you need to clean your furniture once a week or even once a month. But you should get on some sort of maintenance schedule, I recommend once or twice a year especially if you have pets or kids that spill things from time to time.
